Quick little illustration for DJ Nugget's East Coast vs West Coast hip hop mixtape. Kinda quirky little things, so i figured i'd post em up...

The long awaited Shop FOURONETWO! I am currently overseeing all creative responsibilities within the store. Myself and the two owners brought this to fruition all within a month. We worked day and night to complete an environment that conveys our cultural interests to the fullest; not to mention all of the technical ins and outs such as sale systems, physical renovations, and brand buying (our trip to Las Vegas for the Magic Tradeshow). So if you're ever in the area of the Southside Works in Pittsburgh PA, we'll be here kickin it!

So i've been getting projects and fliers lately that aren't necessarily my steez, but i feel like some of them have some cool qualities to make note of. So i post. Anyway, it's photoshop practice if nothing else.

Logo for Carnegie Mellon University's freestyle dance organization. The challenge was to represent hip hop while under the umbrella of academia. The paint can be interpreted as graffiti without looking like vandalism.

First installment of the new branding process i'm taking on at Sbar in the southside. The club scene has been very saturated with design that all looks the same, and so i'm taking the liberty of doing it the right way by creating an image based on the feel of the bar and it's patrons.

This is pretty big. I recently got an email from a really well known DJ in the game, Mick Boogie, about a project he's working on that will take select rap artists from today (Talib Kweli, The Cool Kids and more) and do a tribute remix album in conjunction with this years' vH1 hip hop honors award show...i bboy and am also a huge hip hop nerd, so you can probably understand my excitement.

haha ok, so this is something I did when I was in office at GNC. These are BILLBOARDS keep in mind, who could ever read this much text driving by in a moving vehicle?

So, after countless revisions made and words of wisdom spit to me by the "people upstairs who know what's up", this is what came out. Probably one of the worst things i've ever done!

They TOLD me, but in the form of a question... "can you make both billboards have the exact same layout with everything the same size, etc.?" And when i replied, " yeah to some degree, but the type size will vary because there is obviously twice as much headline type on one board than the other", they said ok.

Needless to say, they insisted on making version after version, a liiiittle bigger.

I love design.



...sooo, after the fact, i'm driving one day and randomly see this! I had no idea it was a billboard on a truck, hilarious.

First round of illustrations for sunKING digital. The ideas are for a FLUX engine. This is part of the rebranding process and is described as the "special touch" that is given to each project that they do. The certain "je ne sais quoi".

DJ zimmie's release party happened just recently. Needless to say, all i could say was ohhh my...the shirt and album art can be seen further down the page.

New American Music Union concert series' afterparty poster for ?uestlove of the legendary roots crew.

This was an interesting project for myself that has been driving me crazy. I have been wanting to get my tattoo game jumpin off for quite some time, but unfortunately, being a visual person, it's hard to let go and rely on the tattooist to dictate the art and illustration style. So, i've been trying to research and design my own tattoos and/or find some fine artwork of an established artist to put on myself. I have chosen the classic James Brown idea of getting/being/dancing "on the goodfoot" as the start to the bigger project (for numerous reasons of course).

It's been tough, and am still not done, but here is what i've come up with so far. I have been a huge fan of Lubalin and Carnase both as typographers, designers, and calligraphers, for a while now, and using one of their pieces as a mold to cast my own creation, gives me the confidence and reassurability that this will be a timeless and legitimate piece of art on my body for years to come.

This piece was for a gallery show in downtown Pittsburgh. The gallery took place at "space", and was to benefit the organization NMV (no more victims). The little Iraqi boy whom the gallery was also in honor for, abdul hakeem, was present. U.S. forces accidentally bombed his home, and he is now making trips back and forth for his reconstructive facial surgery that UPMC is paying for. The premise of the show was to use the silhouette provided in each artists piece, which was a bomb.
